 Targetfour Password Control provides a single point of control for the management of user passwords across a variety of operating systems and applications, such as Microsoft Windows, IBM z/OS and OS/400. The application can be run standalone or integrated into helpdesk products, such as Frontrange's HEAT application, closing the open call on success and journaling the result of the request. Integration with helpdesk tools reduces the amount of time spent by the helpdesk operator in dealing with such requests, and provides a consistent, audited mechanism for dealing with such requests. Password Control can also be integrated into the client’s own website, to provide either password reset self-service, or to allow authorised staff to reset the passwords of their subordinates. The client has control over the security checks applied before processing a reset request. This can include answering client/user defined questions, or by custom database security checks designed to verify the identity of the requester. New Passwords can either be fixed or generated randomly according to specific profiles, for example you could specify that all Microsoft Windows passwords must be 8 alphanumeric characters whereas IBM z/OS passwords must be 6 alphabetic characters only.
